Meet Kinley & Garrett, high school sweethearts who have spent the last seven years growing up together. That kind of history shows itself quietly. In the way they stand close without thinking. In the ease of their laughter. In how little direction they actually needed once the camera was up.
As a Fort Worth photographer, these are the sessions I’m drawn to most; the ones that feel lived in rather than performed.
Starting Their Engagement Session in Downtown Fort Worth
We began their engagement session on a rooftop parking garage in downtown Fort Worth, surrounded by clean lines, open sky, and the city stretching out behind them. Kinley wore a simple white dress paired with her Doc Martens an effortless choice that set the tone immediately. Relaxed, confident, and unmistakably her.
Before every engagement session, I encourage couples to spend a little time together beforehand grab a drink, take a walk, do something familiar. It helps settle nerves and brings you back into your bodies, especially for those who don’t spend much time in front of a camera. By the time we started shooting, Kinley & Garrett were already fully present with each other.
Creating Space for Movement and Ease
Midway through the session, we made our way to Tandy Hills Nature Preserve one of my favorite spots for Fort Worth engagement photos. The open landscape and natural light offer a completely different energy from the city, and the transition between locations gave the session room to breathe.
Kinley & Garrett changed into a more casual outfit, which shifted the pace instantly. Casual clothing invites movement. It allows couples to walk, laugh, lean in, and interact without thinking about posing. Some of the most honest moments happen when couples forget the camera is there and that’s always the goal.
Engagement Photos That Feel Like You
I don’t approach engagement sessions as a checklist of poses. I focus on connection first letting moments unfold naturally while offering gentle guidance when needed. My role is to create an environment where you don’t have to perform, just be yourselves.
Kinley & Garrett’s session was easy in the best way. No overthinking. No rushing. Just time together in places that felt meaningful and familiar.
